Leslie Banta paints clouds and landscapes with an abstract expressionist’s sense of responsive feeling but with strong influences from the plein air tradition; clouds are both reflective and transparent natural objects, with personality and fleeting permanence. As abstract forms, they are the perfect subject! Leslie finds inspiration in the rural farmlands surrounding her town and gets energy from her family and her elementary art students.
