Camille Pissarro

1830-1903

Camille Pissarro was a Danish-French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painter known for his gentle depictions of rural and urban life. Pissarro was both a mentor and collaborator to artists like Monet, Cézanne, and Renoir. His work is distinguished by a soft, atmospheric use of light and color, as well as a deep sensitivity to nature and everyday labor. Over his long career, Pissarro’s style evolved from early Impressionist landscapes filled with luminous brushwork to later experiments in Neo-Impressionism, reflecting his constant curiosity and openness to new artistic ideas.
